Home staging expert Debra Gould, reminds home stagers to follow up with their clients to obtain testimonials and to find out about results that could be used in case studies and marketing materials.
Home staging testimonials a strong selling piece
If you’re a savvy entrepreneur, you don’t wait for your home staging clients to get back to you after you’ve staged their homes. Think about all of the times you yourself have just never gotten around to putting that Thank You card in the mail and you’ll realize why you should make it a regular practice to follow up with your clients instead of waiting for them to take the initiative to contact you.
“The truth is, even if your clients are completely thrilled by the results they’ve gotten after using your staging services, you might never know how they felt about you unless you call or write them asking for details,” states Debra Gould, founder of the Staging Diva® Home Staging Business Program.
Gould suggests there’s nothing quite as effective to sell your home staging services (with the exception of your before and after photos) as strong testimonials, case studies and/or success stories from satisfied homeowners and real estate agents.
“Some new stagers think they’re at a disadvantage because they have no “real” home staging projects under their belts, but I advise anyone in that situation to simply write about results they’ve gotten from staging their own homes in the past. Just tell the story without mentioning that it was your own home! You aren’t making anything up; remember we’re all our own first clients when we’re just starting out.” says Gould.
The Staging Diva® also reminds these new stagers that they should look to the real estate agent who sold their homes in the past, to get a testimonial about results gained if the home was staged before going to market.
“The trick to this,” states Gould, “is to know how to ask and how to arrange it so that the agent actually gets you the testimonial instead of putting yourself in the uncomfortable situation of having to keep constantly asking for it.”
The Staging Diva Ultimate Portfolio Guide gives you four different scripts to use when you’re obtaining testimonials and success stories from your clients (home sellers and real estate agents) and you’ll also learn what makes a strong testimonial. According to Gould, “It’s more than just ‘Jane Stager did a great job staging my house and I couldn’t be happier.’”
This same comprehensive home staging resource will also teach you how to write about yourself, how to write a proper creative brief and even how to take better before and after photos.
